Joe Wheeler State Park – May 2022

It’s a long park road from US-72 to the lodge by the river (see photo). [ N34° 48.597′ W87° 19.926’ ]
First Left turn is for us overnight campers…. We’ll be setting up our camp in Section B, someplace close to showers & the head…
Second left turn is for us picnickers & “beach goers.” MOAL has Shelter 1, perhaps from noon on Sat until we decide to vacate.
We’re providing general snacks, and a variety of cold drinks (Phil’s packing a Large Cooler on top of the mini-camper).
I’m even bringing old fashioned horse shoes because there’s a pit beside the pavilion.
Depending on attendance, it might not be as much of “a meeting” as the big ones hosted by Vance & Mari…
We’re not planning to cook anything – But we might eat dinner in the Lodge or we might just order pizzas to be delivered — TBD.
The gate “Might be” manned on a weekend. Flash a military-ID card and you’re in; otherwise just sweet talk the attendant for shelter #1 access…
